Do not get feared while being seated in the exam hall. Understand and read it thoroughly, and not just read it for a sake.

She thanked Mr.Anand Babu, Bharatram and others who taught her with her curriculum during her clarifications.
Only, from DI she came to know more about what a computer is actually !!
DI teams used to give away prizes during the competitions. Those, prizes helped me perform even more what I actually can !! I was motivated by this.
Even, she won second prize recently in her std.XI for elocution. Heartening to hear from her !!!!

What more things you expect from DI further ?

Any specific requests from DI and its team members ?

Even, I missed the tour last year due to some reasons :)
I also, wanted to learn Spoken English. I want to understand each and everything when people converse in english fluently !!

The session on dentistry went on really well today, although with a few minor hiccups. The heavy rains played spoilsport as the school that was scheduled to function today was let off and the headmaster had forgotten to inform us about it. So when we went in the morning, there were only 6 of the 12 DI students eagerly awaiting us. Since the HM was not there, we could not use the projector too. After a quick discussion, Aravindhan and I decided  to go ahead with what we had and not disappoint the kids who took pains to wade through knee deep  water to reach the school.

Dr  Vignesh (Copied in this email) turned up on time and decided to show the kids his material on his laptop itself. He started off talking about the importance of teeth and elicited responses from the children rather than give a lecture. What started off  initially as a 30  minute session, went on for an hour and a quarter. The following subjects were covered:

  • Parts of a  tooth
  • Uses of teeth
  • Various issues that can occur in teeth
  • How to correctly brush teeth (shown using videos and models)
  • Different streams of dentistry
  • Career path to becoming a dentist
The funny yet relevant examples that the Doctor gave were spell bounding leading one of the children to tell the doctor himself  that his examples were really good. (Sample this: "Imagine five boys sitting in the same bench in class. Now assume that one of them leaves the bench, wont the other four adjust themselves and spread out a little? Similarly, teeth would also do the same leading to weakening of teeth").

The entertaining session ended with the Q&A session and also a small quiz conducted by us to the children to find out what they understood. The kids also promised to tell their friends about the session.

There are a few things we could have done better and which I will share with whichever team wants to avail the services of Dr  Vignesh next. He is available on Sundays and Mondays for similar sessions.

On behalf of DI, I thank Dr Vignesh for taking time off and preparing the slide shows for the session and spending his valuable time with the children today. On the way back past the school kitchen, we were aghast to  find out that we were not the only ones that the management had forgotten to inform about today's school holiday. The lady who prepares mid day meals for the children was also not informed. I leave it to you to imagine what had happened. :(
